If you haven’t made air fryer pop tarts before, this post is for you! Learn how to make easy snowman pop tarts perfect for your winter and holiday brunch celebrations!
Air fryers are one of the most popular kitchen appliances right now, and for good reason.
Not only are they so versatile, but they allow you to make dinner, sides or dessert with less mess and easy clean up.
With the holiday season coming up, I know we are all looking for yummy Christmas treats to share with family and friends, and that is where these delicious Snowman Air Fryer Pop Tarts come in!
Let’s discuss some commonly asked questions about pop tarts, and then get to this easy and festive recipe.
Are Pop Tarts Vegan
Obviously this depends a lot on whether you make Pop Tarts yourself, or buy them.
If you are asking this question, I assume you want to buy vegan Pop Tarts and, unfortunately, you may be out of luck.
Pop Tarts are made by Kellogg’s, and are not labeled as vegan. Let’s dig deeper as to why.
Frosted Pop Tarts contain gelatin, and some of them also contain ingredients such as milk or egg whites. All of these ingredients are, obviously, not vegan.
How about unfrosted Pop Tarts?
The answer isn’t straightforward, but it appears as though even unfrosted Pop Tarts may contain non-vegan ingredients such as sugar (some sugar is processed with bone char), artificial colors (which may be tested on animals), natural flavors (which can be derived from animals), among other things.
So it looks as though store bought Pop Tarts are not vegan.
Are Pop Tarts Gluten Free
Store bought Pop Tarts are NOT gluten free. They are made with wheat flour.
Obviously, if you make your own Pop Tarts at home, you can sub in ingredients to make them both vegan and gluten free, if desired.
Air Fryer Pop Tarts
Let’s get to our recipe for Air Fryer Snowman Pop Tarts!
I’ll walk you through it step by step, but you can find the full recipe card near bottom of post.
First, you will gather your ingredients (pre-made pie crust, jam, jumbo marshmallows, vanilla icing, chocolate chips, cooking spray and candy corn).
This recipe makes four, you can double it to make a larger batch.
You can use premade icing, or make your own royal icing (recipe for icing near bottom of post).
Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees.
Roll out your pie crust and cut into rectangles approximately 2-3 inch in length.
Place about 1 teaspoon of jam on every other rectangle.
Place a rectangle on top of the jam filled rectangles & crimp edges together with a fork.
Lightly spray each pop tart with cooking spray.
Cook in air fryer for 5-8 minutes.
These burn fast, so keep a close eye on them.
Remove from air fryer and place on cooling rack.
Add icing generously to each pop tart.
Place chocolate chips on each pop tart for buttons.
Stick two chocolate chips into the marshmallow to create eyes.
Create a nose with candy corn
Stick the marshmallow snowman heads onto the pop tart. The icing will hold it in place.
And that’s it! Serve warm and enjoy.
